چکیده

The inappropriate use of antibiotics, one the causes high incidence antimicrobial-resistant bacteria isolated from aquatic ecosystems, represents a risk for organisms and welfare humans. This study aimed to determine antimicrobial resistance rates among riverine Aeromonas spp., taken as representative autochthonous microbiota, evaluate level antibacterial in Tua River (Douro basin). prevalence degree antibiotic was examined using motile aeromonads potential indicator susceptibility environment. Water samples were collected middle sector river, which is most impacted area by several anthropogenic pressures. plated on an Aeromonas-selective agar, with without antibiotics. activity 19 antibiotics studied against 30 isolates spp. standard agar dilution test. Antibiotic fosfomycin (FOS) 83.33%, nalidixic acid (NA) 60%, cefotaxime (CTX) 40%, gentamicin (CN) 26.67%, tobramycin (TOB) cotrimoxazole (SXT) chloramphenicol (C) 16.67%, tetracycline (TE) 13.33%. Some acid-resistant strains susceptible fluoroquinolones. Multiple also observed (83.33%). environmental ubiquity, natural antimicrobials zoonotic make them optimal candidates studying (AMR) ecosystems. Aquatic environments may provide ideal setting acquisition dissemination because activities frequently impact them. multi- pan-resistant transmission between animals humans should be considered “One Health—One World” concept.

Seagulls and Beaches as Reservoirs for Multidrug-Resistant Escherichia coli

A variety of extended-spectrum Beta-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli isolates, with a high rate of cefotaximase-15 resistance, were identified in seagull feces from Porto, Portugal, beaches. Beaches may therefore present a risk to public health because of the potential pathogen-spreading capacity of migratory birds.
